Planning a Siargao vacation? Fantastic! This little island is a great part of the world.

Dubbed as the “Most Beautiful Island in Asia” and “The Surfing Capital of the Philippines”, there are a lot of reasons to love Siargao particularly if you are a surfer or love laid back, absolutely gorgeous islands.

However, before you can enjoy Siargao, you need to know how to go Siargao Island. Thankfully, it is not hard to work out how to get to Siargao Island, Philippines although you have a variety of choices.

Below, I describe exactly how to go to Siargao Island. I start with a summary and then give you detailed instructions based on whether you want a flight to Siargao Island, want to know how to go to Siargao by land, how to go to Siargao via ferry or simply want the cheapest way to go to Siargao.

Finally, I also give you detailed instructions for some of the most popular journeys such as how to go to Siargao from Manila, how to get from Cebu to Siargao, how to get to Siargao from Davao and more.

How To Go To Siargao Island

The best way to get to Siargao is usually by flying. This can also be the cheapest way to get to Siargao unless you are coming from a nearby island. From Cebu or Davao, traveling overland can also be a good option. You can take buses or ferries to Surigao and then a direct ferry from Surigao to Siargao.

Flights To Siargao Island

When it comes to how to fly to Siargao, Siargao Airport is only small and only smaller aircraft can land here. This limits the flights going to Siargao.

For direct flights to Siargao, there are only options from Manila and Cebu. The airlines going to Siargao are Cebu Pacific, Cebgo, Sunlight Air and Philippine Airlines. Flights run throughout the day.

If you are flying to Siargao from Manila or Cebu, a direct flight to Siargao is the best way to get there. Flight prices start at around P2,500. Booking ahead can help you find cheap flights to Siargao.

If you are traveling from somewhere else in the Philippines, you’ll first need to fly to Manila or Cebu then connect to one of the direct flights. This is usually the best way to get to Siargao.

You can also consider getting a flight to Surigao and then taking the ferry to Siargao as described below. However, there are even less flight options to Surigao.

Siargao Airport is located in a central spot on the island about 15 kilometers north of the ferry terminal in Dapa.

Land Trip To Siargao?

Siargao is only a small island so it’s not possible to travel here by land from other parts of the Philippines unless you take at least one ferry.

If you are starting your journey in Davao, you can travel most of the way from Davao to Siargao by land. Simply take a bus to Surigao. There are regular ferry Surigao to Siargao options described below once you are here.

If you are coming from elsewhere in the Philippines and wondering how to reach Siargao by land, you will need to get a ferry to Surigao first and then a second ferry from there.

Ferry To Siargao

Unless you fly, no matter where you are coming from in the Philippines, you will need to get a ferry to Siargao from Surigao.

Surigao is located on the northern tip of the island of Mindanao.

From here, you can take a ferry to Dapa on the island of Siargao with Evaristo & Sons Sea Transport.

At the time of publishing, the ferry schedule Surigao to Siargao is 10am and 3pm, but this does change depending on the time of year.

You can find their latest schedule here.

It only takes about an hour and a half and tickets start at ₱515 for the cheapest seat without air-conditioning.

I recommend you book tickets in advance as there aren’t many options. This is especially the case on weekends and during holiday periods.

Schedules and tickets are often only available a couple of weeks in advance, so bookmark this page and check again closer to your travel dates if necessary.

How To Get From Manila To Siargao

The best, easiest and quickest way is to take Manila to Siargao flights. There are multiple direct flights a day.

The flights take two hours and you can choose between Philippine Airlines, Cebgo and Sunlight Air.

If you want cheap flights Manila to Siargao, your best bet is to book in advance.

If you really want to travel overland, this is possible. There is a 45 hour Philtranco bus which leaves Manila for Surigao taking you on ferries along the way.

It can be faster to break this journey into segments. You can take a bus from Manila to San Ricardo in Southern Leyte.

This currently runs daily at 8am from Aurora Cubao in Manila on DLTBCo. It takes 21 hours and tickets start at ₱3,050.

From San Ricardo, you need to take a taxi a couple of kilometers to the pier. From here, there are ferries to Surigao. Montenegro Shipping and Ferries runs this ferry three times a day, and it takes about an hour.

From Surigao, you can take a ferry to Siargao as described above or here.

How To Get From Surigao To Siargao

For how to go to Siargao from Surigao, it is straightforward.

Simply follow the ferry instructions above in the “Ferry to Siargao” section, and you can be there in an hour and a half.

How To Get From Cebu To Siargao

You have two choices for how to get to Siargao from Cebu.

The first option is the easiest and quickest and that is to take one of the direct flights from Cebu to Siargao.

Cebu to Siargao flights take an hour, and you can fly on Philippine Airlines or Cebgo.

The other option is to take a Cebu to Siargao ferry. Unfortunately, this is not direct so you need to take a ferry from Cebu to Surigao and then take the ferry from Surigao to Siargao described above (tickets are here).

The ferry from Cebu to Siargao leaves Cebu City around 9pm in the evening then arrives at Surigao City at around 7am. This means the ferry takes about ten hours. Starlite Ferries run this ferry.

Tickets on this route start from ₱1,200 for a reclining seat. You can pay more for a bed or a private cabin

How To Get From Bohol To Siargao

When it comes to how to get to Siargao from Bohol, the answer is very similar to traveling from Cebu to Siargao.

The quickest and easiest way is to fly. You can fly from Bohol-Panglao International Airport to Siargao via Manila. This takes 4.5+ hours depending on the flights you pick.

You can also take a ferry from Bohol to Cebu and then fly from Cebu to Siargao on a direct flight.

To catch the ferry from Bohol to Cebu, there are many different options and ferries. You can find our full guide to this part of your journey here or find ferry prices and options here.

If you wish to take a Bohol to Siargao Island ferry, this does not exist. However, you can take the ferry described above to Cebu. Once you have made it to Cebu City, you can take the ferry to Surigao and on to Siargao as described above.

How To Get From Davao To Siargao

If you need to know how to go to Siargao from Davao, you take a bus or other form of land transport to Surigao. This takes about eight hours from Davao with buses leaving approximately hourly from 4am to the early afternoon.

Tickets start at P950 for a regular bus or you can pay more for a bus that does not stop as often. The bus line is Bachelor Express.

Once you make it to Surigao, you need to take a jeepney or tricycle to the pier. From here, you can take the ferry described above to Siargao.

There is no Davao to Siargao flight. You could fly from Davao city to Siargao via Manila or Cebu which could save some time.

How To Get From Butuan To Siargao

The answer to how to go to Siargao from Butuan is very similar to Davao above. You need to take a bus from Butuan to Surigao. There is no direct Butuan city to Siargao option.

Bachelor Express buses run this route regularly departing every hour or so. They take about 2.5 hours and tickets start from P210.

Once you arrive in Surigao, take a jeepney or tricycle to the pier. From here, follow the directions above to take this ferry to Siargao.

How To Get From CDO To Siargao (Cagayan de Oro)

The answer to how to get to Siargao from CDO is similar to the answers above as it is also located on the island of Mindinao.

You can travel from CDO to Siargao by land by taking a bus to Surigao and then taking the ferry described above (schedules and tickets here) from Surigao to Siargao.

For the bus to Surigao, there are a couple of direct buses in the evening which take about 9 hours. This includes an hour waiting time in Butuan. They depart from the Agora Terminal in CDO.

For more flexibility, you can take any bus from CDO to Butuan as these run much more regularly. They take about five hours with Bachelor Express and run every couple of hours. From Butuan, there are regular onward buses that you read more about in the section above.

If you would prefer to take a CDO to Siargao flight, you will need to fly via Manila or Cebu. This can still save some time. Find prices and options here.

How To Get From GenSan To Siargao (General Santos City)

Again, to travel from GenSan to Siargao by land, you need to take a bus to Surigao, take a jeepney or tricycle to the pier and then take the ferry to Siargao here.

Your best option to bus from GenSan to Surigao is to take a bus to Davao first. Multiple bus lines run this route regularly, and it takes about 3.5 hours. Tickets cost from P900.

From Davao, the bus takes eight+ hours. You can read more about it above.

To save time, you can take GenSan to Siargao flights. These are not direct and you will need to fly via Manila or Cebu. These flights take from 5.5 hours plus time to get to and from the airports, check-in, etc.

How To Get From Clark To Siargao

To get from Clark airport to Siargao, you can fly to Siargao via Cebu.

You can also take a bus to Manila and then take a direct flight from Manila to Siargao.

How To Get From Iloilo To Siargao

By far the easiest answer to how to go to Siargao from Iloilo is to fly. While there are no direct Iloilo to Siargao flights, you can fly via Manila or Cebu. Flight times start at about 4 hours including transit time.

You can also choose to travel overland which won’t necessarily be cheaper.

The quickest way is to take a direct ferry from Iloilo City. This runs on Saturday nights at 6pm and takes 11 hours. You can only book a week ahead online at the time of publishing.

Once you get to Cebu City, you can follow the directions above for Cebu to catch a ferry to Surigao and then another ferry to Siargao.

If you cannot take a direct ferry from Iloilo to Cebu, you can take a more complicated route by taking a ferry to Bacolod. From there travel across to the east coast of the island and then take a ferry to Cebu Island. Travel to Cebu City and then take the ferries as described above.

How To Get From Boracay To Siargao

Finally, you may be wondering how to get to Siargao from Boracay. This is the most complicated journey so far.

However you decide to travel, the first step will always be to catch a boat from Boracay to Caticlan. All travelers do this so it is straightforward. You would have done it to travel to Boracay.

The easiest and quickest option is to then fly from Caticlan to Siargao. There are no direct flights from Boracay to Siargao but you can fly via Manila or Cebu.

This takes from 3.5 hours and you’ll soon be on the beaches of Siargao.

Once you have made it to Cebu City, you can take a ferry to Surigao and then a ferry onto Siargao as described above.
